How Bundling Auto and Home Actually Saves You Money

If anything here raises a question about your own coverage, call or text me at 636-293-9498. I would rather talk it through than have you guess.
Almost everyone has heard that you save money by putting your auto and home insurance with the same company. That is usually true, but it is not automatic, and it is not always the biggest saving. Here is what is really happening when you bundle.
What a multi-policy discount looks like
When your auto and your home are on the same policy family, the insurer is keeping more of your business and taking on less risk of losing you. In exchange, they apply a multi-policy credit to one or both policies. That credit is often a meaningful percentage of your premium, and it is worth asking about every year at renewal.
When bundling is not the best price
Sometimes one company is excellent on home and only average on auto, or the opposite. I run both sides separately and together, then compare what you are actually getting. Sometimes the best answer is two carriers instead of one, because you can still earn savings through other credits.
- Multi-car and multi-driver credits
- Paid-in-full and paperless discounts
- Employee, industry and degree discounts
- New home, claims-free and loyalty credits
What to bring to the conversation
Photos of your current declarations pages for both your auto and home policies are the fastest way for me to give you a real apples-to-apples comparison. Coverage limits, deductibles and any endorsements matter just as much as the price.
Text a photo of your policy to 636-293-9498 or upload it with your quote request and I will show you the difference side by side.
